‘ello poppet! June seems to be speeding by – I better get to work on my monthly favourites soon! Since Monday’s post (Date Night Outfit & Makeup) went down so well I thought I’d try something different again today, so here I am with my first ever ‘versus’ post including a product that I’m sure is very close to a lot of sleep deprived peoples hearts πŸ˜‰

Back Story

I’ve been a fan of Collection’s Lasting Perfection concealer and have used it for years. I often try out different brands and formulas but I always come back to Collection; it’s like my eye bag safety blanket. So imagine my horror when I go into my local Superdrug and they don’t have my shade in stock – not even out the back. Obviously I’m sure you can visualise the scene that then unfolded; the desperate hunt for a dupe. Superdrug had nothing to offer but thankfully Boots seemed to have a tube of magical creamy goodness that claimed to work the same miracles – Seventeen’s Stay Time concealer. So let’s get on with the comparison!

Both products have quite similar packaging but I haven’t noticed any of the design and information rubbing off of the Seventeen tube so far. The design/font on the Seventeen tube is more creative and therefore more attractive than Collection, so Seventeen wins this round!

Both products feature a ‘doe foot’ applicator which are pretty much identical, and they’re the perfect size to precisely apply the product exactly where you want it – so this one’s a tie!

Collection’s retails at Β£4.19 for an unspecified amount with a product life of 12 months and Seventeen’s retails at Β£4.49 for 7ml with a product life of 24 months. Even though I’m unsure how much product Collection offers, Seventeen wins simply because of it’s longer life!

Coverage & Staying Power

Β Collection claims that their concealer lasts for 16 hours which I personally think it does, but it doesn’t last that long without some major creasing. It doesn’t matter how much powder I apply to try and set it, it always creases within three hours and has to be blended out again!
Seventeen’s claims to last for 18 hours which it does – I had it on yesterday for just under 18 hours (it was a long day) and it didn’t budge. And the bonus is that there was no creasing at all! I find the coverage to be the same for both, but Seventeen wins this round as it doesn’t crease!

I think it’s quite different to compare the shades as even though they are offering very simular products they are still completely different brands which each offer different shades; for example, Collection offer a ‘Fair’ but Seventeen go one lighter and offer an ‘Extra Fair’ – therefore not really making them comparable.

However, if you take all the other factors into consideration I think Seventeen is the clear winner in this product battle! I’ll be honest and admit that the ‘no creasing’ was the main factor for me, but I know there are some that say they don’t get creasing with Collection, so if you’ve tried both please leave me a comment and let me know which is your winner!

  1. Billie Saunders says:

The Collection concealer is like a holy grail for me! Luckily it doesn’t crease so much on me, but after reading this I feel compelled to buy the Seventeen concealer! The fact they do an extra fair has sold me and your kind words. I am always looking for a more highlighting concealer so you may have just solved my problem! I’ll let you know how I get on when I eventually buy it.. because lets face it, I will haha! Thanks for sharing! Super helpful ❀ xo

  2. Karen Rees says:

This is JUST what I needed – you must have known somehow!!! lol Honestly I literally included Collection concealers on todays video for disappointing products because it creases and makes me looks about 105. Gotta try out the seventeen – actually really impressed with this brand lately, think I’m gonna have to start trying out some more of their goodies!! Thank you sooo much for sharing πŸ˜‰ X

    • KaylaLeigh says:

Oh how strange! I love everything about it except that pesky creasing! I’d highly reccommend it, you’ll have to let us know how you get on – the only frustrating thing is that I have to make the extra trip to Boots as Superdrug don’t sell it haha x

      • Karen Rees says:

I know, bizarre eh?! Thankfully my Boots & Superdrug are right across from each other so I usually pin ball between the two…. sorted lol πŸ˜‰ Will keep you posted huni XXX

  3. Jessica Leeman says:

I have tried both of these and I just didn’t get on with the seventeen one. It was a great concealer and good consistency, but I didn’t like it because it didn’t really stay on me or provide as much coverage as the collection one (imo). glad you enjoyed it though – great post πŸ™‚ X

  4. Strange Made Me says:

It doesn’t crease!? *mad drive to Boots to grab all the Seventeen concealers*

I’ve been a die hard fan of the collection concealer for years, so I will definitely be trying some of the Seventeen stuff ! πŸ˜€

      • Strange Made Me says:

Well, it’s been a long time coming but I think I’ve actually come to terms with the fact I have a couple of under eye creases and 99% of the products I use on my face seem to migrate there *sobs* I’m hoping this one lasts longer than the Collection though! πŸ˜€ Thanks for the recommendation! x
