In light of recent events I thought I’d write a blog post on the topic of body shaming and bullying. For those who haven’t already seen, a photo was published online of an overweight man dancing and then that same man looking very sad. The caption explained that the person taking the photograph had been laughing with their friends at this man and this was after he’d caught them laughing at him.
This is not ok. Bullying is not ok. It’s disgusting and embarrassing behaviour to take a photo of an overweight person and make fun of them online. Why would you actively show off how much of a terrible person you are? Keep your unfunny personality and lack of empathy to yourself. The dancing man is just one case, but this happens far too often. Just because you’re online doesn’t mean you can ignore that others are actually real people…
